Best video games launches today? Which takes us back to the event itself: Hauling Hope is an External Contract available to World of Trucks-connected profiles in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. You’ll need a minimum of Fragile Cargo skill rank 1 in order to take part, and must deliver seven loads in completely undamaged condition in order to earn a World of Trucks achievement and a Hope Trucker Insignia item to hang in their cab. But SCS emphasized that the real point of the thing is to have some fun. “This event is a chance to take part in delivering something more than just a cargo, it’s a chance to deliver hope to the world, if only virtually,” it said. “Where you go and how far you haul will be up to you. As gaming became more popular, the ’90s became the first decade when esports (a term which wasn’t yet coined) began to really take off, with companies such as Nintendo and Sega holding professional gaming tournaments. But it is the 1997 Red Annihilation Quake tournament which is considered the world’s first ‘real’ esports event, with 200 participants contending to take the grand prize – the lead developer of Quake’s Ferrari. No More Heroes is a hack-and-slash game series that began all the way back in 2008 on the Wii. It’s since amassed a considerable cult following, and has enjoyed strong critical acclaim. After a COVID-19 related delay, No More Heroes 3 will release on Switch on Aug. 27. After years focusing mainly on Dishonored, developers Arkane Studios are moving onto a new IP in Deathloop. And it looks sick. Here’s the idea: You’re an assassin trapped in a timeloop that resets after each day. In order to get out, you need to kill eight “visionaries” who are scattered around an island. The caveat is that you’ll need to do it within one timeloop. The second caveat is that, as you hunt for the eight visionaries, a rival assassin keeps herself busy by hunting you. Deathloop will hit the PlayStation 5 and PC on September 14, with an Xbox version probably coming next year (it has timed console exclusivity for one year). There aren’t a lot of story-driven browser games to choose from, so when one suddenly pops up, our interest is naturally piqued. A Dark Room is an homage to classic text-based adventure games, so its interface is primitive, but intentionally so. Initially, the story takes you to a cold room where all you can do is light a fire and keep it going. Meanwhile, the text on the left side of the screen explains everything that’s going on around you, and eventually A Dark Room opens up more ways to interact with its heavy survival-based narrative. Along the way, you’ll have to make choices that impact the events that take place in A Dark Room. Likewise, you’ll have to decide whether to keep playing or get back to work.
