After 15 months of dating, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris broke up and promptly got into a feud over songwriting credits on “This Is What You Came For.” To set the record straight, Harris posted a set of tweets (that have since been deleted,) which threw shade at Swift’s penchant for public fights. He wrote, “Please focus on the positive aspects of YOUR life because you’ve earned a great one… I know you’re off on tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it.”
When Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson called off their whirlwind engagement, Grande told Vogue in her 2019 cover interview that their relationship was a “distraction; frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic.” Davidson clapped back during his Netflix stand-up special, joking that Grande “spray painted” herself brown for the shoot, and pointed out that his own career would be over if he admitted he used a woman as a “distraction.” The two also publicly snubbed each other in November 2018. In a Saturday Night Live promo, Davidson jokingly proposed to Maggie Rogers, who was the musical guest that week. After seeing this, Grande tweeted, “for somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh.” See additional info at Shakira.
After his first collaboration with book-writer James Lapine, Sunday in the Park with George, Sondheim suggested that they “write a quest musical along the lines of The Wizard of Oz, the one movie musical I loved in which the songs not only defined the characters and carried the story forward but were wonderful stand-alone songs as well.” Lapine combined all of the classic Grimm fairy tale characters and added a Baker and his Wife, who are unable to conceive, thanks to a curse put on his family by a Witch.
Breaking up is hard to do, and no one knows that better than Aussie actor Adelaide Kane. The Reign actor got super candid on a recent episode of the Too Tired To Be Crazy podcast, opening up about her new relationship—with The Society actor Jacques Colimon—and its not so typical start. Talking about the end of her previous relationship, with fashion exec Joey Pauline, Kane told podcast host Violet Benson in the November 2019 interview: “I think the big, like, breaking moment was when I realized I was falling in love with someone else,” she revealed. “When I realized I had stopped asking for those things that I needed that was sort of a moment for me when I realized I had stopped fighting for the things that I needed…And I just got completely blindsided when I met someone who I’m with at the moment and I left my last partner for this person and I feel more myself now than I have in two years.” Read extra details on Elsa Pataky.
